Update: Recap: Preparing for the Storm

Here’s a recap of some hurricane news Plainview Patch has reported on in the last 24 hours.

Shelters: Nassau County has opened more than two dozen shelters, including  Plainview JFK High School and Plainview Middle School, if you need to leave your home. 

LIRR: Long Island Rail Road train service is now suspended systemwide.  Service will remain suspended throughout the duration of the storm for the safety of customers and employees and to protect railroad equipment and infrastructure. Following the storm, the LIRR will assess damage and restore service when it is safe. Visit www.mta.info for updates.
