Marie Macina celebrated her 100th. birthday last week at Somerset Gardens Senior Living.
Nassau Legislator Judy Jacobs, D-Woodbury, helped at the celebration at the Sunnyside Boulevard home on July 21.
Mrs. Macina has been a resident of Somerset Gardens for four years. She was born and raised in New York City, living in Queens for more than 42 years before moving to Somerset Gardens. She worked as a secretary, then became a stay-at-home mom of her three daughters. She has 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Macina loves to sing, and in the past, she loved to dance, play poker, bingo, crochet, sew, cook and travel with her husband of 64 years, Joe, Jacobs' office said.
