Celebrate Israel through Film in January at Temple Chaverim. January 6 at 3:00 will feature Footnote, a film by Joseph Cedar. This film is a powerful family melodrama, at times humorous and at times a serious philosophical inquiry. The setting is the Talmud department of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Professor Skolnik, popular teacher of Talmud, is being inducted into the Israel Academy of Science. His father, also a professor at the Hebrew University, seethes with jealousy and disappointment over how marginalized his academic career has been. Mistaken identity and role reversals ensue. The film won “Best Screenplay” at the Cannes Film Festival.
Join us on January 13 (3:00) for Live and Become on January 27 (3:30) for Three Israeli TV Shows ("Serugim - Knit Yarmulka", "Ramzor - Traffic Light" and "Arab Labor")
