Community Safety Forum

The Concerned Citizens of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Community are pleased to announce our Annual Summer Community Safety Forum, Tuesday Night, July 31st at 7:00PM in the Auditorium of the POB Public Library, 999 Old Country Road, Plainview.  This year’s program includes something for every resident with presentations from; LIPA, Nassau County Police Department, Plainview Water District, and the POB Senior Resource Group.

Lauren Brookmeyer, District Manager of LIPA will be offering a 20 minute educational presentation addressing "Storm Restoration and Hurricane Preparedness," including what residents need to know and what LIPA's internal process is before, during and subsequent to a major storm. Questions and answers will follow Ms. Brookmeyer’s presentation. This educational hurricane preparedness forum presentation, does not include reliability or other specific non-storm related questions.

Once again, in the Concerned Citizens/Neighbor-to-Neighbor Watch ongoing dialogue with the Nassau County Police Department; representatives of the combined 2nd and 8th Precincts Problem Oriented Police Unit will be discussing how to keep your homes and personal property safe, offer an update on local crime since their last visit, and will shed light on anticipated fluctuations in crime patterns associated with the change in seasons.  The organization is extremely fortunate to able to provide this valuable information from the Nassau County Police Department in an effort to keep our community informed, safe, and able to enjoy our suburban quality of life.  The 24/7 services of our local law enforcement officers is greatly appreciated. 

Chairman, Andrew Bader of the Plainview Water District will be presenting on behalf of Commissioners Schulroff and Kessler on facilities management, summer water usage, and other key conservation issues that every homeowner should be aware of during the summer months of peak water use.  The Plainview-Old Bethpage Water District not only has been voted the #1 Best Tasting Water 2012, but our Commissioners, all POB residents, are dedicated to providing the safest and best quality water for the residents every year.

Lastly, the Plainview-Old Bethpage Senior Resource Group, a newly organized collaboration of professionals who concentrate their efforts to assist the concerns of the senior community, will highlight their areas of expertise ranging from the services offered by Andrew M. Lamkin, Esq.-Elder Law, Jeff & Bryan Trugman-Financial Advisors from Attitude Financial Group, Rosemarie Davidson from Caring Transitions-Senior Moving and Downsizing, Pam Winters-Somerset Gardens Senior Assisted Living, Anne Recht-Geriatric Care Manager, Mark Margulies-Comfort Keepers Home Care Services, Robyn Berman-POB Cares/Project Pace, Elyssa Friedman-Family Adult Services of the Mid Island YJCC, the Concerned Citizens of the POB Community Neighbor-to-Neighbor Watch, Greg Muller-Advanced Planning, Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, and Michele Stern-Central Island Healthcare Nursing Home.  All of the aforementioned professionals are committed and actively involved in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Community on behalf of our seniors and their families.
