You should start at the town assessors office. They can tell you who owns the property. The county can tell you if there is a mortgage on the property. I doesn't appear the current owner is interested in selling but I'm sure it would have a big price tag if it went on the market.

Here's the link from the town website. It's a little tricky to use. http://www.smithtowninfo.com/Smithtown_TaxChart_query.cfm I didn't find 230 Edgewood ave. its funny you have to type it in exactly like it was entered. So try "ave." and try "avenue" try all caps or no caps or one letter cap. There's good info, it's just a crappy set up.

Thank you for your comments, it is much appreciated. Still working on it, will keep all updated. I want to open it, for all to see during and right after the restoration.

Try using the search without a house number. There is no 230 listed, but search results show all Edgewood Avenue owners.

look under the address 227 Edgewood Ave, Smithtown to find the owner. He is not interested in Restoring the Beautiful old Historical bldg, instead he is letting it deteriorate so he can knock it down & put something else in its place. (although he wont tell you that) I have contacted him & he has no interest in selling.
