Plainview Grad Selected as ECAC All-Star

A Plainview resident has been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference 2014 Division III Upstate New York All-Star Softball Team and SUNY Oneonta had a pair named to the First Team.

Traci Lichtenstein, a graduate of Plainview-JFK who is currently a sophomore at SUNY Oneonta, was selected as a designated player.

Lichtenstein, who was a first team All-SUNYAC and NFCA All-Region selection, had a stand-out season at the plate for the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons this spring as the starting designated player. She led the team in home runs (5), RBIs (43), total bases (67) and slugging (.545). Her final batting average of .358 was second on the team.

Lichtenstein finished the year leading the SUNYAC with her 43 runs batted in, which also established a single season record for the program. Her RBI total was also third in the Northeast Region and 27th in NCAA Division III.

School officials report that the softball team had its greatest one season turnaround in 2014. The Red Dragons finished 30-11 and won the SUNYAC title and earned the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament.

Sabrina DeAngelis, an East Meadow resident who graduated from Kellenberg Memorial, was selected as a pitcher.
