Plainview JFK Students Meet Katy Perry at UNICEF Headquarters

District takes part in organizations work to help underprivileged children worldwide.

Twelve Plainview JFK students, District Superintendent Dr. Lorna Lewis and JFK  Assistant Principal Sharon Lasher recently participated in the United Nations Children’s Funds’ (UNICEF) announcement naming award-winning pop star Katy Perry as the newest Goodwill Ambassador.

The students learned about UNICEF and the organization’s initiative to provide underprivileged children around the world with equal opportunities.

The students had the opportunity to meet and speak with the performer and also watched footage from Perry's recent trip around the world to work with children as part of her UNICEF mission.
