Plainview Students Team Up for 'Financial Literacy Day'

Local fifth graders learn economic basics from their high school peers.

Thirty-six Plainview JFK High School juniors and seniors recently participated in the district’s 4th annual "Financial Literacy Day."

The student-volunteers served as mentors to fifth grade students from Mattlin Middle School and Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School, and taught them budgeting basics, money saving tips and young entrepreneur skills

The day was coordinated by DECA student club members Derek Ash, Zachary Pokorny and Adam Stern.
