Menorah Lighting Draws Young and Old the MHJC

Beautiful Menorah visible from Manetto Hill Road in front of the synagogue.

The Manetto Hill Jewish Center held its public Menorah Lighting Monday night, bringing light and an ancient story of endurance to Manetto Hill Road.

Rabbi David Ross Senter, spiritual leader of the synagogue, led the assembly, many of them children, in the story of Hanukkah, asking the children questions about the events of that holiday and handing out gelt.

Then came the lighting of the beautiful menorah at the entrance to the synagogue.

A gathering followed inside the temple, an annual tradition at MHJC, with delicious latkes and other treats.

See the story told in photos, with the gracious help of Laurel Scarr-Konel, and with special praise to her husband, Michael, who made those latkes.
