Plainview's Lewis Named to 'Kids of Distinction'

Zach is still fighting in the name of friend, Spencer Reis, who died last year.

The Town of Oyster Bay honored Plainview's Zach Lewis as one of its “Kids of Distinction” in a ceremony Tuesday night in Oyster Bay.

Lewis, a Plainview JFK sophomore, was close to Spencer Reis, the Plainview teen who died from complications of leukemia last year.

Lewis, a teammate of Spencer's in their soccer club, went on to raise money for a scholarship in Reis' name and is still active in the cause. Patch will have more on Zach in an upcoming story.

The Kids of Distinction Program was created to recognize young town residents who involve themselves in voluntary community, charity or civic activities on their own individual initiative.
