What Our Dads Taught Us

Father's Day lessons from dad: Charity; care for others, and never buy a watch on Canal Street.

Members of the Plainview Jewish Center's Men's Club assembled Tuesday for one of their regular social gatherings. Like many in Plainview, Father's Day was on their mind.

The group works toward charitable and civic endeavors and tends to a wide assortment of needs at the temple. About 75 were present at Tuesday's gathering.

Some of the men had recently lost their fathers. Others still had them around. A large number of the men left the party to attend the nightly prayer meeting known as a "minyan." There, they would offer praise to God and remember the dead.

They offered these thoughts about their dads in the video attached here.

In order, they are:
  • Rob Cohen
  • Gene Brickman
  • Andy Bader
  • Joe Schinz
  • Michael Prospect
  • Sandy Pezner
  • Sandy Strenger.
With special thanks to Rob Cohen, Gene Brickman, Mike Levy and the members of the Men's Club.
