Stuttering in Young Children and the Lidcombe Program

This is about the importance of early stuttering intervention.

What are we waiting for? Parents often call me and say their child is stuttering and pediatricians told them to wait. They are told to wait even after their child is struggling and stuttering for over 3 months. Why watch your child struggle and stutter? Why take the risk of stuttering for a lifetime? Many do outgrow it but why take that risk? It is not worth it.

While parents wait they become more anxious and this could exacerbate stuttering. The chld becomes increasingly frustrated.  Again why wait?
