Plainview Plans Donor Drive in Spencer's Memory

TODAY's 5: Final preparations are underway for Sunday's big bone marrow donor drive at Driftwood Day Camp.

The community is buzzing about an upcoming bone marrow donor drive in memory of Spencer Reis set for Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.

Last month, the brave 14-year-old Plainview freshman lost his battle with cancer. In his memory, Spencer's family and friends are inviting the community to help find a match someone else. It could be you.

On Wednesday:

1. Preparations are continuing all this week for Sunday's event at Driftwood Day Camp, 331 Mount Misery Rd, Melville, NY. Spencer, always active, suffered a minor injury while playing on a trapeze. A few days later, he was diagnosed with leukemia. Sunday's event at Driftwood seeks potential blood marrow donors and welcomes contributions.
