21st annual Rob'e Run

JOIN THE CROSS COUNTRY FUN AT NEW YORK BLOOD CENTER’S ROB’S RUN @

Runners from all over the New York Metropolitan area and beyond are cordially invited to be part of the 21st anniversary edition of New York Blood Center’s Rob’s Run, a 5 Kilometer cross country race which will be held on Sunday morning, December 1, 2013 at Stillwell Woods Park in Syosset.

Rob’s Run will be staged by the Greater Long Island Running Club under the direction of veteran GLIRC stalwarts Jim Murray and Sue Fitzpatrick. Jim and Sue are hard at work putting the finishing touches on this individual and team competition that continues to be Long Island’s premier cross country event....and a great way to enjoy the beauties of Stillwell Woods.

Rob’s Run will start promptly at 9:15 AM on the morning of December 1st. Registration and pickup will be at the Center for Developmental Disabilities from 7:15 AM to 8:45 AM. CDD is at 72 South Woods Road directly next door to Stillwell Woods.

As in the past, Rob’s Run is dedicated to the memory of Rob Lauterborn, an extraordinary human being, talented runner, and good friend, who was taken from us at far too young an age.

be. If you’ve never had the nerve to try running cross country before, this is an easy way of introducing yourself to the wonders of the woods and of getting an exciting new perspective on Autumn running. Try it; you’ll like it!

Entry fees are $25 for those who preregister and $30 for those who wait till the day of the Run to sign up. There is a 50% discount for High School and younger runners. Everyone who signs up is guaranteed to get one of the great giveaways that have always been a Rob’s Run tradition.

Unique awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, and to the top three male and female finishers in each of 17 five year age groups ranging from 10 and under to 80 and over. Team awards will be presented to High School and Middle School boys and girls teams, and to Male, Female, and Co-ed teams in the open, Masters and Senior Masters Divisions.
