Community Update

Help. Surely something is wrong. Two nights ago (Wednesday) I saw scattered lightning approximately 3 am. A little later my lights went out. I live in an all electic condo on the water. So no electric means no airconditioning, no cooking. We are mostly an elderly community. Some are frail. When I awoke 8 am the next moring it was alreay HOT. I saw a LIPA truck! Yea. I approached the truck to inquire when the electric would be restored. In the cab was a gentleman smoking a cirgarette. Outside the truck were two younger gentlemen. They said they had just got the call and they would first have to diagnose the outage. They said they did not have any maps yet. The wiring is underground. I knew the feed was from a telephone pole just outside the development and so I was their 'map'. The cigarette smoker made a comment that we should not have installed underground wiring. I do know that in Russia the big cities all have underground electric wiring. It cuts down on maintenance which may not be good for LIPA lineman. I had no electric, no phone service, no ability to even call 911. I drove to Starbucks, and found the LIPA site to register an outage. The LIPA site confirmed that the outage was known and went on to state "will be fixed by 1 PM". That was Thursday. Today, Friday it still was not fixed. Why? When I exited the development yesterday afternoon I saw the truck with the man smoking his cigarette parked under a tree, just outside the development. I stopped. He had a big smile on his face and said your electric is back on. I said it was not, but I volunteered to drive back to my home and double check. No electric! I reported this to him. He seemed surprised. There are several of us that are without electric and suffering. Please help!
