Question of the Day: Dangerous Roads

Let us know what you think.

Farmingdale is home to some of Long Island's most notorious roads. From the wide Route 110 turnpike in East Farmingdale, to narrow Main Street in the Village of Farmingdale, to the winding backroads behind and the drivers face many different road conditions.

Which intersection do you try to avoid the most in Farmingdale and why?

I avoid Oakdale Blvd & Melville Rd. because no one stops for the stop sign at Balcom Rd & Melville road & the people in my development cant safely get out. We have to go down Balcom Rd & get people to STOP at the 3 way stop sign so we can turn. Why don't people stop at stop signs any more ???

Thomas Powell Blvd...where it intersects with Bethpage and Round Swamp Roads is always the site of numerous accidents.

I always avoid getting off of the Southern State at 32N (rt 110) because there isn't enough road to get over if there is alot of cars coming to turn at the light. That would be rt 110 and main street.

I agree with you Terri 100%. I used to travel Round Swamp frequently because it was my route to work. I never knew if someone was going to not stop and make a turn while cars were coming around the bend. You really need to keep your eyes moving to make sure you don't get hit or hit someone.
