Would You Run for the School Board?

Plainview has two board members running unopposed in May's election. Why are there so few candidates?

If you look around other Long Island school districts, there's lots of controversy.

Plainview isn't free of it, but by comparison, issues here are fairly mild.

The has two seats up for re-election on May 15. The two candidates are incumbents and . There is no opposition and the filing deadline has passed.

Why is there limited interest in running for the school board?

Is it the long hours and the fact the posts are unpaid? Is it a thankless job. Are most people too busy?
