2 Women Burned in Hicksville House Fire

Plainview firefighters lend a hand to Hicksville in putting out a raging morning blaze on Linden Blvd.

Two women escaped a raging inferno in their Hicksville home Tuesday but suffered burns and smoke inhalation as they fled the destruction.

Hicksville firefighters, with the assistance of the Plainview Fire Department and other area companies, raced to the scene of the morning house fire at 11 Linden Blvd., authorities said.

The two victims, including an elderly woman, managed to escape the burning home and were outside on the lawn when firefighters arrived.

At least one of the women suffered significant burns, firefighters said. Both suffered smoke inhalation and were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals.

Their conditions and identities were not available.

Firefighters entered the home and attacked the fire from multiple sides and then searched and overhauled the house. The blaze was knocked down and quickly brought under control, firefighters said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
