A Hicksville woman was struck and killed by a car Saturday in Hicksville, the second fatal accident involving a pedestrian in Hicksville in as many days.
Nassau County detectives said Leema Karnati, 48, of Hicksville, was crossing Newbridge Road near Elmira Street when she was struck by a southbound driver. The victim was crossing the street from east to west about 6 p.m. Saturday; she wasn't in a crosswalk, detectives reported Sunday.
Karnati was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead 30 minutes later, police said.

A 53-year-old driver driver, who was operating a 1992 Lincoln in the left lane of Newbridge Road has not been charged, police said. The investigation is continuing.
Karnati is the second pedestrian to be killed in as many days in Hicksville.

was struck down in the parking lot of Our Lady of Mercy Church on South Oyster Bay Road Friday. The driver in that incident was also not charged.
