Busy Day for Plainview Firefighters

Bus fire, car crash, all part of a day's work for volunteers on Wednesday.

Plainview firefighters, on the heels of a very busy week, had a busy day Wednesday responding to two incidents.

One involved a small fire on a tour bus in the afternoon. The other was a car crash that tied up traffic on Round Swamp Road for a while during the morning hours.

The bus fire occurred late yesterday afternoon on the eastbound Long Island Expressway at Manetto Hill Road. The bus was emptied and firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

Earlier, firefighters were called to a three-car crash at the intersection of Round Swamp Road and the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway.

One person was transported to a local hospital by a Plainview ambulance, firefighters said

That incident, just before 9 a.m., tied up traffic in the area.
