Car Set Ablaze, Spray Painted by Vandal in Old Bethpage

Plainview firefighters arrive to find gas tank on fire.

Authorities belive an early morning car fire in Old Bethpage was set by a vandal who defaced the vehicle with spray paint before settings its gas tank  ablaze.

Plainview firefighters responded to West Park Drive in Old Bethpage to find the rear quarter of the car engulfed in flames. First Deputy Chief Ross Dubner called for the fire marshals to investigate the apparent arson, who were joined by Nassau County Police, authorities said.

Plainview fire units quickly extinguished the blaze.

The car had been spray painted in black with explicit signs and slogans. The Fire Marshals Office and Nassau police are investigating.
