Car Vandalism Trend Continues Near Plainview

Cars in commercial and residential areas in the area were targeted.

Cars in commercial and residential areas were targeted in vandalism incidents in the past week, including in the Plainview area, cops said.

Nassau County Police reported seven vehicles had glass broken, scratched frames, and unknown substances poured on them within the Second Precinct.

In Bethpage, South Farmingdale and Syosset, cars in residential areas sustained damage, while other commercials areas, like the Hicksville LIRR station and Syosset Medical Building, saw cars vandalized.

The Second Precinct reported the following crimes:

  • Feb. 27: Criminal mischief; Parkdale Drive, South Farmingdale; car damaged.
  • Feb. 27: Criminal mischief; BJ's, Farmingdale; windshield broken on car.
  • Feb. 28: Criminal mischief; Hicksville LIRR; window broken on car, charger, GPS, cell phone taken.
  • March 1: Criminal mischief; Island Trees High School, Levittown; car damaged.
  • March 2: Criminal mischief; Bryon Street, Bethpage; unknown substance poured over vehicle.
  • March 4: Criminal mischief; Church Street, Syosset; window broken on car.
  • March 5: Criminal mischief; Syosset Medical Building, Syosset; scratches on car.

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
