Cars Collide; One Smashes into House

Plainview firefighters free victim who was trapped inside one of the wrecks.

Two SUVs collided on Plainview Road Tuesday morning, sending one of the vehicles careening into a nearby home.

responded to the crash just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on Plainview Road near Cynthia Drive. They discovered the driver of one of the vehicles trapped inside the crumpled wreck. Firefighters used the "Jaws of Life" to free the trapped victim, who was then transported to a local hospital, firefighters said.

The victim's condition was not known.

The second car had careened across a driveway and into a nearby home. The driver did not appear to be seriously hurt, firefighters said.

Nassau County police were on the scene conducting an investigation. Plainview firefighters secured the vehicles and cleared away the wreckage.

The 's building department was called to inspect the home for any structural damage.
