Concerned Citizens Group to Hold Safety Forum

Police will answer questions at public session Wednesday night

A community safety forum to address the renewed increase in burglaries and other issues has been scheduled for Wednesday night.

The annual winter forum, sponsored by The Concerned Citizens of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Community, is set for 7:15 p.m. at Somerset Gardens Senior Living on Sunnyside Boulevard.

"Traditionally between the change from daylight savings time, and the holiday season there is an increase in our local crime rate, which has already been evidenced in our community," said Concerned Citizens President Carol Meschkow.

Representatives of the Nassau County Police Department will offer insights and tips on home and community safety and address the recent burglaries and vandalism in Plainview and surrounding communities. A question and answer session and refreshments will follow the program.

"The Concerned Citizens looks forward to the community availing themselves of this vital information and working together to keep our community safe," said Meschkow, whose group has been in the vanguard of public safety issues.
