Duo Busted, Charged in Nassau-wide ATM Scam

Cops: Pair took $17,000 from the accounts of Citibank customers.

Nassau Police swooped in on two men in Hicksville Monday suspected of scamming more than $17,000 from ATM machines at various Citibanks around Nassau County.

Stefanita T. Macau, 27, and Teodora A. Paslan, 32, were charged with operating a scam by attaching electronic skimming devices to bank debit/credit cards, Nassau detectives said. In the process, the men, who have no known address, took more than $17,000 from customer bank accounts, detectives said.

The men face multiple felony counts of grand larceny after their arrest Monday at 7:30 a.m. Monday in Hicksville. They will arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

The arrests came through a combined effort between Citibank, the Nassau County Crimes Against Property Squad, the Eighth Squad and the Garden City Police Department, Nassau Police said.

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
