A surge of incidents may be ushering in the wintertime burglary trend, as eight burglaries and four robberies were reported in the Plainview area in just over two weeks.
Two reported burglaries in Plainview resulted in loss of gadgets, jewelry, and cash. Nearby robberies in Farmingdale, Oyster Bay, and Hicksville ranged from unsuccessful run ins in the street to a bank robbery. Reread Nassau County Police reminders here for safeguarding your home.
Second Precinct detectives reported the following crimes:
- Sept. 24: Burglary; Diamond Drive, Plainview; two iPads, assorted jewelry stolen.
- Sept. 29: Burglary; Plainview Road, Hicksville; cash, jewelry stolen.
- Oct. 1: Burglary; Edi Avenue, Plainview; jewelry, cash stolen.
Oct. 1: Burglary; Acre Lane, Hicksville; jewelry, laptop, iPod, Wii stolen. - Oct. 2: Burglary; Balcom Road, Farmingdale; attempted burglary, nothing stolen.
Oct. 5: Burglary; Sprint, Jericho; cell phones stolen. - Oct. 7: Burglary; Richmond Avenue, Jericho; cell phones stolen.
- Oct. 11: Burglary; Burns Avenue, Hicksville; car bumpers, wooden desk stolen.
