Crime Report: Fatal Motorcycle Crash; New Charges for Mure Involving High-End Autos

Farmingdale Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

A Farmingdale man driving a motorcycle was killed March 29 when his Harley Davidson collided with another vehicle in Hicksville.

Second Squad detectives said Robert Depasquale, 59, of Farmingdale, was eastbound on Duffy Avenue on a 2010 Harley Davidson when he collided with a 1994 Honda. The Honda was driven by a 74 year old male who was exiting West Nicholai Street and making a left onto Duffy Avenue.

Depasquale was transported to the Nassau University Medical Center by County ambulance where he was pronounced dead at 3:53 p.m. There were no other injuries. Detectives report no apparent criminality at this time. Both vehicles were impounded from the scene for brake and safety inspections.

Police: Suspect Used Fraudulent Paperwork to Buy Porsche 

A man already accused of taking high-end items from a dealership is facing new charges in connection with the theft of a $100,000 Porsche.

30, of 31 Pierce St., Hicksville, obtained a loan from the M&T Bank in Jericho on March 25 using fraudulent W2 forms, Nassau police said. The defendant obtained a loan in the form of a check for $100,000.00 for the purchase of a 2010 Porsche GT3 from Porsche of Roslyn, police said.

Mure picked up the car on March 28. The dealership received a stop payment on the check after the defendant had already left with the vehicle. On March 29, 2011 at noon, the defendant returned to the Porsche dealership to pick up the title and other paperwork and was then arrested.

The vehicle was recovered and returned to the dealership. The defendant is charged with grand larceny and possession of a forged instrument. He was arraigned on March 30 in First District Court in Hempstead.

Mure was recently accused of stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise from Ferrari-Masserati of Plainview. Mure, who gave a Mastic Beach address in the first arrest, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property after an internet search revealed he was selling stolen items from the dealership on E-Bay, police said. The various auto accessories were valued at $4,000, police said.

East Northport Man Charged in Theft at old TB Hospital

An East Northport man faces charges of stealing copper wire from the in Plainview.

According to the detectives George Taylor, 51 years old, of 51 Roosevelt Ave., was observed in his vehicle by Eighth Precinct police officers in the parking lot of the former Nassau County Sanitarium on Old Country Road. The trunk of the vehicle was open when the police observed cooper wire, a power saw, pry bars and gloves.

Further investigation revealed that the defendant had removed the copper wire from a building at that location. The defendant was charged with burglary, criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.

  • On March 19, petit larceny, Sears, Hicksville, pants stolen.
  • On March 19, petit larceny, Capital One Bank, Plainview, sunglasses stolen.
  • On March 21, burglary, Irene Lane, Plainview, jewelry, cash and Ipod stolen.
  • On March 21, petit larceny, Hollister, Hicksville, 11 polo shirts stolen.
  • On March 24, burglary, Nicks Sports Barber Shop, Hicksville, cash and laptop stolen.
  • On March 24, grand larceny, Chase Bank, Plainview, cash stolen.
  • On March 24, grand larceny, E Marie Street, Hicksville, automobile stolen.
  • On March 26, petit larceny, Twin Lawns Avenue, Hicksville, GPS/Ipod stolen from automobile.
