Crime Report: More Burglaries; Botched Bank Heist

Syosset area hard hit as rash of break-ins continue in the area. Neighborhood Watch meeting tonight in Syosset.

Nassau police detectives are investigating a in the northeastern portion of Nassau County and are contending with a would-be bank robber who got away with no cash.

A string of burglaries have been reported in recent weeks in Plainview, Hicksville, and Syosset. The most recent reports are listed below.

Robber flees Chase bank without cash

Nassau Police Department's Robbery Squad is investigating the that occurred in Plainview on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 4:20 p.m.

According to detectives, a male white subject, about 25, 6-feet tall, wearing a green pullover sweater, blue jeans, sunglasses and a white Nike logo baseball style cap entered the located at 404 Woodbury Road and handed a demand note to a teller. The subject left the bank without any proceeds and was observed walking through the parking lot westbound towards South Oyster Bay Road. There were ten employees and four customers present at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

Detectives are requesting anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls are confidential and all callers will remain anonymous.

  • On Oct. 9, grand larceny, Stop&Shop, Woodbury; wallet cash, credit cards stolen.
  • On Oct. 17, burglary, Robbins Lane, Syosset; pried door open.
  • On Oct. 17, grand larceny, Laura Drive, Hicksville; tires and rims stolen from auto.
  • On Oct. 13, burglary, Tacoma Lane, Syosset, safe, IPod, cash and jewelry stolen.
  • On Oct. 12, petit larceny, Plainview; License plates stolen from auto.
  • On Oct. 14, burglary, Split Rock Road, Syosset; unknown entry; no loss.
  • On Oct. 14, burglary, Monfort Place, Syosset, IPad, jewelry and cash stolen.
  • On Oct. 14, burglary, Hazelwood Drive, Jericho; necklaces, Movado watches, diamonds stolen.
  • On Oct. 15, grand larceny, Stop&Shop, Plainview; wallet stolen.
  • On Oct. 13, petit larceny, E. Main St., Oyster Bay; cash, debit card, camera stolen from auto.
  • On Oct. 15, petit larceny, Broadway Mall, Hicksville; mirror on auto damaged.
  • On Oct. 15, criminal mischief, North Shore EMS, Syosset; sprinkler heads damaged.
  • On Oct. 14-17, (Oyster Festival weekend) an assortment of criminal mischief incidents, Oyster Bay; autos scratched and damaged. Cars broken into. Various reports of minor damage and thefts.
  • On Oct. 18, grand larceny, The Fabric Mill, Plainview; wallet and contents stolen.
  • On Oct. 18, two incidents of grand larceny, Synergy Fitness, Syosset; briefcase stolen, camera laptop and cash stolen from an auto.
  • On Oct. 18, grand larceny, Cara Calla, Syosset; laptop/projector stolen from auto.
  • On Oct 18, criminal mischief, Café’ Testarossa, Syosset; GPS, credit cards, wallet, pills stolen from auto.

Nassau police arrested the following people:

  • On Oct.12, Nadine Numa, 42, Briarcliff Road, Westbury, charged with petit larceny.
  • On Oct. 12, Roxanne Bauman, 43, Pine Street, Hicksville, charged with violating probation.
  • On Oct. 15, Alki Antonoppoulos, 31, charged with DWI and reckless endangerment on the LIE in Jericho.
  • On Oct. 15, James Lewis, 54, charged with robbery at Kohls, Jericho.
  • On Oct. 16, Christopher Cincotta, 21, criminal trespass, Deer Lane, Hicksville.
