Crime Report: New Rash of Burglaries
Patch reports on recent crimes in the Plainview-Syosset area, including 7 new break-ins in a two-day span, including 6 on Friday Feb. 10.
Nassau County Police are reporting eight new burglaries in the Plainview-Syosset-Hicksville area in a two-day span last week.
The burglary spree has been among the biggest stories of the region recently at a time when Nassau County is considering merging its current eight police precincts into four.
Police say the best way to protect yourself from these thieves is to leave lights on, lock your doors and keep an eye out on your neighborhood.

The Second Precinct reported the following crimes:
- Feb. 13: Grand larceny; J&M Auto Repair, Syosset: tailgate of truck/hydraulic plow pumps stolen.
- Feb. 9: Burglary; Underhill Road, Syosset: No loss.
- Feb. 9: Burglary; West Marie Street, Hicksville: Assorted jewelry stolen.
- Feb. 10: Burglary: Charles Street, Hicksville: Jewelry, jewelry box stolen.
- Feb. 10: Burglary: Princess Street, Hicksville: Jewelry stolen.
- Feb. 10: Burglary: 23rd Street, Jericho: Basement door entry; no loss.
- Feb. 10: Burglary: 3rd Street, Woodbury: IPad, cash stolen.
- Feb. 10: Burglary: Delaware Avenue, Jericho: Jewelry, watches stolen.
- Feb. 10: Petit Larceny: Bath and Body Works, Plainview: Gels stolen.
- Feb. 10: Petit Larceny: Gap, Plainview: 10 pairs of jeans stolen.
- Feb. 14: Burglary; Whitney Avenue, Syosset: Jewelry stolen.

- Feb. 11: Denia Videla, 25, charged with petit larceny, Sears, Hicksville.
- Feb. 13: Sharonica Young, 22, charged with petit larceny, Macy's, Broadway Mall, Hicksville.
- Feb. 13: Tiquisha Fudge, 22, charged with petit larceny, Macy's, Broadway Mall, Hicksville.
- Feb. 14: Parmuit Kaur, 59, charged with petit larceny, Macy's, Broadway Mall.
- Feb. 14: Christopher Myers, 24, charged with petit larceny, Target, Broadway Mall.
