Crime Report: Prostitution Arrests in Bethpage, Counterfeit Money

Prostitution and Promotion
The Narcotics/Vice Squad reported the details of two arrests involving five people in connection with prostitution in the Bethpage area last week.

According to detectives, defendant Desiree Will, 22 of 1501 Almaden Road, San Jose, California, offered an undercover detective sex in exchange for money while inside an area motel about 9:45 p.m. on April 8.
The defendant was arrested and a greenish brown substance believed to be marijuana was found in her possession. Tyrone Riddick, 31, P.O. Box 28117, San Jose, California, was charged with promoting prostitution by managing a prostitution business. Further investigation revealed Riddick advertised the prostitution services on Backpage, detectives said.

Will is charged with prostitution and unlawful possession of marijuana, while Riddick is charged with promoting prostitution. They were arraigned on Saturday April 9, 2011 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
Prostitution and Promotion
Then, on Monday April 11, Narcotics/Vice Bureau detectives made three arrests in connection with prostitution in Bethpage.
According to detectives, Hua Yang, 53, of 144-45 41st Avenue, Flushing, was observed working with the defendant Tim Terranova, 57, of 71-12 Bennett Court, Brooklyn at 10:15 p.m., at a location in Bethpage when she offered to engage in sexual conduct for $330.
Additionally Jessica Morales, 34, of 20-31 18th Street, Astoria offered to engage in sexual conduct for the amount of $350 during the course of a separate incident at another location in Bethpage at 10:25 p.m.
Yang and Morales are being charged with prostitution and Terranova is being charged with promoting prostitution and unlawful possession of marijuana. They were scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at First District Court in Hempstead.
Assault
Second Squad detectives charged a Hicksville man with assault that occurred on Monday April 11, 2011 at 10:00 p.m. in Hicksville.
According to detectives, the defendant Thomas Nigro, 38, of 32 Croyden Lane, while wearing a ski mask, approached his first victim, a 40-year-old male as he was exiting a vehicle in a private driveway. Nigro began to swing a black rope with a heavy ball on the end known as a “Slungshot” and struck his victim on the head and body.
A second victim, a 44-year-old male, who is the brother of the first victim, exited the vehicle to come to his brothers aid and was struck with the same weapon in the head and face, causing him to sustain a head laceration and a broken nose.
The two victims were able to subdue the defendant and reveal his identity after removing the ski mask. Nigro is known to one of the victims as a one-time friend who he had problems with in the past. The victims held the defendant until the police arrived, where he was placed under arrest.
The first victim refused medical attention at the scene; the second was transported to a local hospital for treatment to his injuries.
Nigro is charged with two counts of felony assault and Criminal possession of a weapon. He was scheduled to be arraigned on April 12, 2011 in First District Court, Hempstead.
Counterfeit Money
Second Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for criminal possession of a forged instrument that occurred in Hicksville on Thursday April 14, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.
According to detectives, Shakeda Hinton, 17, of 106-06 160th Street, Jamaica, Queens, entered Burger King located at 334 N. Broadway, ordered food and produced a $100 counterfeit bill and handed it to the cashier for payment. The manager called the police and the defendant left the store.
About an hour later at 6:00 p.m., the defendant entered Johnny Rockets Restaurant located at 213 Broadway Mall in Hicksville and once again ordered food and attempted to pay for it with a counterfeit $100 bill. The manager notified police and the Second Precinct Police Officers responded and placed the defendant under arrest.
Hinton is being charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday April 15, 2011 at First District Court, Hempstead.
