Crime Report: Rash of Car Break-ins; Restaurant Burglary

Patch reports on crimes reported in the Syosset-Plainview-Hicksville area.

A rash of smash and grab thefts were reported in the vicinity of Gardner Avenue and West John Street on Oct. 20 where thieves smashed car windows and made off with valuables, Nassau County Police said.

In addition, police reported an unusual burglary at Caracalla Restaurant in Syosset, where a mixing machine and deli slicer were stolen.

  • Oct. 19: Grand larceny, Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury: Jewelry stolen from bridal suite.
  • Oct. 14: Grand larceny, Sullivan Drive, Jericho: Diamond ring stolen.
  • Oct. 20: Burglary, Bobwhite Lane, Hicksville: Jewelry stolen.
  • Oct. 20: Burglary, Milburn Street, Hicksville, Jewelry, cash stolen.
  • Oct. 19: Burglary, Genesee Street, Hicksville: home ransacked; unknown loss.
