UPDATE: Eastbound LIE Jammed at Old Westbury

Truck overturns at Exit 40, closing three eastbound lanes. Clean up still underway as single lane is moving.

UPDATE: 10 p.m.

The eastbound Long Island Expressway finally reopened about 9 p.m. Monday after after a tractor-trailer rolled over Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Nassau Police reported at 4 p.m. that three eastbound lanes were closed at Exit 40 after the truck flipped and rolled over onto the shoulder. Only the HOV lane was getting by the wreck and was causing delays back to the Queens line, police said.

Three hours later, conditions had not changed much. The truck had been righted, but workers were clearing logs from the side of the road and repairing road damage. Two people were treated for injuries, authorities said.

There were also "rubbernecking" delays on the westbound side of the crash, various news outlets were reporting.

The cause of the roll-over and the condition of the victims was not available.
