UPDATE: Eastbound LIE Potholes Repaired at Woodbury
Emergency pothole repairs had to be made Sunday night.
Nassau County Police say the right and center lanes of the Long Island Expressway are now open eastbound between exit 44 and 45 after road crews repaired potholes shortly before midnight Sunday.
The area impacted was in the vicinity of Woodbury.
Similar emergency repairs were observed by Patch Sunday night on the Northern State Parkway westbound near the South Oyster Bay Road exit.
Typically, big potholes occur following freezing and a period of rapid thawing. Several large ones have been reported in local neighborhoods, residents said.
