Econo Lodge in Hicksville Robbed at Knifepoint

Police: Clerk threatened and punched; suspect makes off with cash.

A man armed with a knife burst in on the Econo Lodge in Hicksville Saturday and made off with the contents of the cash register.

Nassau County police said the robbery took place Saturday just after 11 p.m. at the motel, located at 429 Duffy Ave. The man displayed the knife as he approached the desk clerk, demanded money and then punched the victim several times on his the upper body, police said.

The victim opened the cash register. The attacker removed the black insert containing the money and fled on foot northeast toward Duffy Avenue, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a male white or light-skinned male Hispanic with a thin build, 5’3”-5’5” tall, wearing a black hoodie and black mask. No further description is available.
