Update: Elderly Woman Struck, Killed Outside Nursing Home

Woman pronounced dead at Syosset Hospital after sustaining "severely critical injuries."

An elderly woman was pronounced dead Friday after a truck hit her in a Woodbury nursing home parking lot earlier that morning.

Marilyn Ranschburg, 81 of Hicksville, was struck just after 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Woodbury Center for Health Care by a 2010 Hood delivery truck, said police.

Nassau County Police and responded to the scene and found Ranschburg with severe injuries, including a fractured hip, cops said. Police requested a helicopter to lift Ranschburg to a medical center for immediate treatment of "severely critical injuries." The helicopter was canceled it and police instead transported her to. Ranschburg was pronounced dead at 12:35 p.m. at Syosset Hospital, reported police.

Police said no criminality is suspected of the driver, a 43-year-old Flushing man.
