Firefighters Combat Flames, Intense Heat in Syosset Blaze

Massive response from Plainview and other area companies to assist with Meadow Lane Fire.

Syosset firefighters were confronted with intense heat inside and out of a house fire that broke out on Meadow Lane Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to multiple calls for a house on fire at 9:18 a.m. and discovered a smoky blaze on the first floor of a private home. The occupants managed to escape without injury.

Firefighters forced their way in through heavy smoke and heat inside the home while confronting high temperatures outside, a dangerous combination for firefighters.

Departments from Bethpage, Hicksville, Jericho, Plainview, Westbury
Glenwood, Oyster Bay, Huntington Manor and Farmingdale were all called to
the scene to help crews with overhauling the fire scene and providing the first-due responders a needed break, authorities said.

No injuries were reported to the firefighters. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
