Firefighters Free Trapped Man in Plainview LIE Crash

Early morning two-car crash sends one car into retaining wall.

Syosset and Plainview firefighters freed a man from the wreckage of a two-car crash on the Long Island Expressway early Saturday, firefighters said.

Firefighters from both departments responded to the 4:30 a.m. crash on the eastbound LIE near the the Manetto Hill Road exit in Plainview. Firefighters found a man inside one of the cars, which had plowed into a retaining wall. The driver of the second car was not trapped.

Syosset firefighters used a variety of hydraulic tools to tear open both passenger doors and the center post while emergency crews attended to the trapped man inside.

The man was freed quickly and transported to an area hospital, authorities said. The driver of the second vehicle was also treated at a hospital. Their conditions could not be learned.

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
