Grenade Found at TOBAY Recycle Center

Nassau Arson/Bomb Squad detectives remove grenade Tuesday to be destroyed at later date.

A grenade was found by a Town of Oyster Bay employee Tuesday at the Town's Old Bethpage Sort Facility, according to Nassau County Police.

The Nassau Arson/Bomb Squad was called to remove the grenade, which was discovered while the employee was sifting through recyclables at about 11:20 a.m.

While it's unclear whether the grenade was still live, detectives removed it to a secure facility where it will be destroyed, police said.
