Gunman Confronts Elderly Plainview Couple; Ransacks Home, Flees

Victim and his wife alert police as attacker steals money, jewelry and flees. No one hurt.

An elderly Plainview resident returning home from shopping was accosted by a man with a gun who ordered the victim into his home and proceeded to ransack the residence.

The attacker, who displayed a dark handgun, took money, credit cards, a cell phone and jewelry from the man and his wife, who was home at the time, Nassau County Police said Thursday.

The attack took place about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home on Azalea Court. The suspect ordered the victim into a room where his 77-year-old wife was watching TV. After taking the money and credit cards, the assailant proceeded to the second floor, where he ransacked the bedrooms and took additional jewelry, police said.

As this happened, the victims managed to call police and activate an audible alarm. The subject fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The elderly victims were not injured, police said.

Eighth Squad Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
