Firefighters from the visited the children at the Plainview-Old Bethpage recently to teach life-saving techniques.
Fire safety prevention lessons were taught by teachers in correlation with fire safety month. Firefighters visited to highlight the importance of fire prevention and safety.
Firefighters gave a presentation of their turnout, or "bunker" gear as it is known, while explaining to children why they should never hide from firefighters.
Other lessons included stop, drop and roll techniques in the event clothing catches on fire and calling 911 in case of emergency. Firefighters also instructed students never to re-enter the house for anything including a pet, toy or other belonging.
