Bethpage firefighters pulled a 60-year-old man out of a burning building Monday morning in a fire that authorities have termed suspicious.

Nassau Arson-Bomb detectives are investigating the blaze at Giovanni’s Deli on Bloomingdale Road that was reported just after 5 a.m. Monday.

Bethpage firefighters, under the command of Chief James Eaudille, forced their way into the smoke and located the victim still breathing but unresponsive, police said.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

Bethpage firefighters responded in force with 50 members and seven pieces of apparatus to put out the blaze. No other injuries were reported.

The fire is being investigated as a possible arson and the probe ongoing, detectives said.
