Mother Charged in Daughter's Death

Plainview girl, 8, was set to be flower girl in wedding.

A Plainview mother was charged with manslaughter Sunday in the death of her disabled daughter.

Police said that Veronica Cirella, 31, would be arraigned at her bedside at Nassau University Medical Center, where she was taken after being found Saturday in her Shelly Court home.

Police were summoned to the home at midday where they found Julie Cirella, 8, dead, and the mother lying semiconscious on the floor nearby.

The girl was disabled and used a wheelchair. She was supposed to serve as a flower girl at her cousin’s wedding on Saturday.

Members of the wedding party appeared at the home Saturday afternoon as police waited for a warrant to search the home.
