Firefighters Free Woman from South Oyster Bay Road Crash

Hicksville units use hydraulic equipment to cut open crumpled Jeep.

Firefighters freed a woman trapped inside her vehicle Friday after a two-vehicle crash on South Oyster Bay Road near the Woodbury Plaza Shopping Center.

Members of the Hicksville Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and hydraulic cutters to free the driver from the wreckage of the morning crash. The incident tied up traffic in the vicinity. The northbound lane of South Oyster Bay Road was closed during the operation.

The driver of the Jeep was removed from the car and transported by Nassau County Police ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center. Her condition could not be learned. The driver of the other vehicle, a pick-up truck, was not hurt.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.

South Oyster Bay Road is the technical dividing line between Hicksville on the western side and Plainview to the east. Firefighters from both fire companies typically respond to accident scenes along that roadway.

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
