Driver Crashes into Cars, House, then Flips on Old Country Road

One man hurt in wild early morning crash in Hicksville;

The driver of pick-up truck lost control of his vehicle early Friday, crashing into several cars and a house before overturning on Old Country Road in Hicksville, authorities said.

Authorities said the crash took place about 6:15 a.m. on Old Country Road near Charles Street when the pick-up's driver smashed into several cars, causing extensive damage to at least one of them.

The driver then struck a house, flipping his vehicle and crashed into a tree, firefighters said. The crash scene was just east of the Long Island Rail Road tressel, in front of LIPA's Hicksville complex.

Hicksville firefighters and Nassau County Police responded to the scene and attended to the injured driver.

The driver's condition could not be immediately learned.

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
