Car Strikes Tree on Woodbury Road; Woman Airlifted to Hospital

Vehicle was stuck between tree and wall; Syosset firefighters remove roof to free driver.

Syosset Firefighters cut through the roof of a crashed car on Woodbury Road Thursday in order to free a woman trapped in the wreckage.

The woman was airlifted to with serious injuries, firefighters said.

The crash took place about 7:40 p.m. Thursday on Woodbury Road near Yukon Drive when the car hit a tree, wedging it between the tree and a cement wall. Syosset Firefighters and Nassau County Police responded and discovered the woman pinned inside the wreckage, the car leaking gasoline.

Firefighters removed the car roof quickly and freed the woman. Her condition could not be learned.

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
