Plainview Bank Robbed; Second Heist in Three Weeks

Roslyn Savings Bank on Old Country Road hit in afternoon robbery.

Nassau County Police are looking for at least one man who pulled off a bank robbery Wednesday afternoon in Plainview.

Nassau police and detectives were at the scene Wednesday afternoon of the bank heist at the Roslyn Savings Bank on Old Country Road, one block east of South Oyster Bay Road in Plainview.

At least five police units were called along with a crime scene truck at about 1:15 p.m.; the investigation is ongoing.

Police reported that an unknown white male entered the bank and presented a note demanding money to a teller. After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash the man fled on foot westbound towards the Burger King parking lot at Old Country Road and South Oyster Bay Road.

Six employees and two customers were present at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.

Initial reports from the scene indicated two suspects fled the bank and were driven away by a third suspect in a waiting vehicle. Nassau Police could not confirm those details.

The Roslyn Savings Bank robbery takes place just three weeks after the TD Bank directly across the street was robbed. There have been a string of bank robberies in recent weeks across Long Island.

The suspect in today's heist is described as 6-feet tall, wearing a gray winter jacket, green winter hat, black mask over his mouth and clear glasses. Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.

Richard, I agree. This road has so many potholes that were fixed, it dips and the county trees haveRead More lifted it up in areas that now hold water. I have ben living here for over 30 years, and I cannot recall it ever being done. It needs to be done soon, I so agree with you. Maybe Mangano will see this and do something, then again if we lived in Bethpage, it would of been done already.
