Free event open to the public from noon - 2 p.m. today.

As part of National Fire Prevention Month, the Plainview Fire Department is holding its annual Open House Sunday at its headquarters on Old Country Road.

The entire community is invited to the event, set for noon-2 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters will conduct live demonstrations and provide tips about fire safety and prevention.

Information will also be available about CO detectors, fire evacuation plans, blood pressure screenings. One of the live demonstrations includes using the "Jaws of Life" in a simulated "car crash."

You can also find out how you can volunteer and be part of the department that has served the community for decades.
