Blaze erupts in private home on Adrienne Drive Saturday.

Plainview firefighters were called to battle a raging house fire Saturday night in Old Bethpage.

The fire erupted at 27 Adrienne Drive about 7:30 p.m. Saturday. When firefighters arrived the flames were visible through the roof of the structure.

Firefighters from Bethpage, Farmingdale and Hicksville were also called to the scene to assist.

Our hearts go out to the unfortunate family on Adrienne Drive.
About two hours earlier, immediately as the power was turned on to my home on Sylvia Lane, our boiler burst into flames. The GREAT people in the Painview Volunteer Fire Department were there within five minutes..in time to prevent a bad su=ituation from becomig worse...otherwise we would have been part of today's story as well. In addition, as the gas lines have headed down Old Country Road to the Hess Station, our volunteer fireman have been keeoung order for days and days. Tey deserve everyones congratulations and thanks for that. God Bless our volunteer firemen and firewomen!

I think that Julie's thoughts are very well taken. Perhaps Patch could organize a relief fund for those folks. I for on would be happy to join with Julie in making a donation!
I also second Julie's nice words about Joe and Patch -- good jub!

The man who lives here, lives alone. His name is Bob. Everything inside was destroyed. I live in the house behind him on Mahan. We were present at the scene.

The definition of STOP in the driving world is " the complete cessation of movement".Read More Sound like many people think STOP signs mean 1. Slow To Observe Police or 2. Slightly Touch On (brake) pedal. Time to go to traffic school online at www.oltep.com. Relearn what you forgot from Driver's Ed. Stay Safe

Stop means stop. Just like stop signs, where it seems like the local definition is to slow down toRead More 30 mph. You STOP, and look. Then go. I have seen kids having a tough time crossing Jamaica Ave because of this twisted definition of STOP. If anything, this is a good way to relearn what should of been taught in drivers ed. When I moved to Plainview, people at a stop sign would signal the driver that got there first to go. Now it's a race to the stop sign and fly by it to avoid having the other guy go first.
