Plainview Firefighters Free Man, 83, From Flipped Car

Victim had lost control of vehicle backing out of his driveway on Beaumont Drive; flips car in neighbor's back yard.

Plainview firefighters rescued an elderly man from inside his overturned car in a backyard of a Beaumont Drive home Wednesday, firefighters said.

Firefighters and Nassau County police units responded to multiple calls just after 2 p.m. to a report of an overturned car with a man trapped inside.

The victim, an 83-year old man, was conscious but trapped inside the vehicle, which was resting face-down in the backyard.

The man lost control of the car while backing out of his a neighbor's lawn, firefighters said. The car then flipped over a 4-foot embankment and came to rest in the neighbor's yard.

No one else was hurt in the incident.

Plainview firefighters we able to pull the man from the car. Medical personal strapped the man to a stretcher and initial reports indicated he was response. 

He was transported by police ambulance to the Nassau County Medical Center.
