Plainview Firefighters Free Trapped Woman

Overturned vehicle is cut open to save victim on South Oyster Bay Road.

Plainview firefighters freed a trapped woman from an overturned car Friday night after the vehicle crashed on South Oyster Bay Road.

The and units of the Nassau County Police Department responded to the report of an overturned car on South Oyster Bay Road just north of the intersection with Old Country Road. The crash occurred late Friday night.

The unidentified woman was trapped inside the vehicle, a black Cadillac, which had struck a tree and a utility pole before overturning. The utility pole was shattered; it's remains hung up in the adjacent tree.

Using the Jaws of Life, the woman was pulled from the wreckage and stabilized. She was transferred to the Nassau University Medical Center in serious condition, firefighters said.
